Somerset Valley Orchestra Guidelines
2009-2010 season


1. Tuition

All members in good standing are approved for participation in orchestra activities, including rehearsals, performances, Board meetings, etc. To be in good standing, a member must
    ∙ Attend rehearsals and performances regularly
    ∙ Adhere to the Orchestra Requirements listed below
    ∙ Pay the required tuition: $25 per season. Such payment constitutes acceptance of the conditions of the Bylaws.
Note: Any modifications, such as waiving of tuition in the case of hired “ringers,” based on need, must meet with the approval of the director and/or manager.


2. Orchestra Requirements

Orchestra members shall
    ∙ Attend rehearsals regularly and on time
∙ Adhere to the conductor’s directions
    ∙ Learn and incorporate special instructions for each piece
    ∙ Prepare musically for all performances
∙ Play parts assigned according to playing ability and interests
    ∙ Be sensitive to and blend with the ensemble
    ∙ Notify the manager or section leader in the case of
- anticipated absence
- change of address, email address, or telephone number

Visitors are encouraged to attend at least two rehearsals before joining.


3. Music

Members are responsible for
    ∙ Taking proper care of the music
    ∙ Returning the music for the next rehearsal or concert as necessary
    ∙ Returning the music after each concert/season to avoid a late fee
    ∙ Assuming the cost of lost folders/music at full replacement value
